Earlier this year, I held a workshop on data in an online community called the "Inspiration Buyers Club." This four-week workshop was inspired by the act of data recording itself, particularly focusing on the dissonance between the symbols used to represent data and their actual meanings. I was intrigued by the data that we fail to consciously record and curious about the image of the self constructed through data. How would I perceive this data-constructed version of myself? This curiosity formed the core motivation behind initiating this project.

This way please 🚪

The workshop consisted primarily of three weeks of interactive data games, structured around the themes of "Self," "Environment," and "Exceptions." Each week, participants collected data about themselves based on game instructions I designed, and met online to share their findings and reflections from the week. All three themes revolved around data collection but specifically emphasized uncovering unconscious, unnoticed data about ourselves, observing details in the environment typically overlooked by our consciousness, and creating a playful context for data collection.

In total, ten online members participated in this experiment of self-observation. Their participation provided answers to some of the initial questions I had when conceptualizing the game: How can we maintain clear reasoning while also embracing chaotic creativity? When interacting and merging with machine logic, how can we ensure our sensitivity remains free from self-censorship, allowing it to grow organically like a vine, freely exploring and wrapping itself around intriguing shapes of curiosity?

Week 1 Overview 概览

We used the Milanote platform, where each person had their own workspace board to upload and organize their materials.
